Frequently Asked Questions

  • Same-day is fine if there's availability. Just give us a call.

  • Stanton will work with you to pick a meeting spot that's convenient for wherever you're coming from. Parking is always available. Plan to arrive about 10–15 minutes before your trip, though right on time works just fine too.

  • No, we’ll handle that.

  • You can, and Stanton will clean your fish before you head home. See our Catch & Release section below for more details.

  • Stanton will make sure you have the full picture on weather and water conditions before your trip. If things look iffy and you'd rather wait for a better day, he completely understands — just say the word. That said, when he sees conditions he considers unsafe, he'll make the call to cancel without hesitation. Your safety comes before everything else. Rescheduling is always handled at whatever date works best for both of you.

  • The boat can accommodate guests with some mobility limitations. If you've got specific concerns, just mention it when you reach out. We’ll do our best to make it work.

  • Captain Stanton will work diligently to put you on the fish, and his effort will speak for itself throughout your trip. He can guarantee great service, companionship, and mentorship, but when fishing in a natural ecosystem, it’s impossible to guarantee a "catching trip." Every effort will be made on every trip for that to be the case, but in the natural world, you cannot control the inevitable tough fishing day from time to time.

What to Bring

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Sunscreen

  • Drinks and snacks

  • A good hat and sunglasses

  • Families with little ones under 8: Please bring a properly fitted life jacket for each child. They're required to wear one at all times on the water, and children's sizes vary enough that it's best to bring one from home to make sure it fits right.

What To Leave at Home

  • Glass of any kind — strictly prohibited on board

  • Illicit substances

Catch & Release

We’re a big believer in catch-and-release, especially when it comes to the bigger breeder fish that keep populations healthy for years to come. That said, if you're hoping to bring something home for supper, that's more than welcome. We’ll have them cleaned and ready to go before you leave the dock.

  • "We caught more fish in 4 hours on the chartered trip than we did on every other day of our 4 day trip fishing on our own; combined."

    Michael Verschaeve

  • "Bay-Water Fishing Charters was the best birthday present for Wilder! Pretty sure he's 'hooked' for life now."

    JJ Nelson

  • "Service and companionship are the pillars of his business, and he's really good at filling a cooler as well."
